Port Newark - PORT AUTHORITY OF NEW YORK AND NEW JERSEY The Port of New York and New Jersey regained the top spot as the busiest shipping port in the country, according to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. Although U.S. port activity is typically quieter in February due to overseas production slowdowns and closures related to the Lunar New Year holiday, the Port Authority's five metro area ports remained busy, moving 571,177 TEUs (20-foot equivalent units) of cargo, surpassing West Coast rivals such as the Port of Los Angeles and the Port of Long Beach by 83,000 TEUs and 27,000 TEUs, respectively.
